Yes. Every Night Sky map is individually calculated for the exact date, time and place you choose — it is never a generic print, and we guarantee its accuracy.
Where the star data comes from
Our star catalogue comes from the European Space Agency's Hipparcos mission, a high-precision catalogue built from more than three years of observations by the Hipparcos space telescope. You can read about the mission at https://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/hipparcos/home. Astronomers have measured the positions of the stars and the Earth's year-long orbit around the Sun precisely enough that it is possible to compute which stars were above any point on Earth at any moment. That is what we do for your map. It renders stars down to magnitude six — everything visible to the naked eye under dark skies.

Why two maps can look alike — or different
By default we render maps at 10pm local time, because those are the stars people remember. That means two maps from cities in different time zones can show similar skies, and two maps a couple of months apart can look alike. Both are expected results of how the Earth turns and orbits, not errors.
