Silver tarnish is inevitable unless it's keep in air tight or anti tarnish containers. It can be caused by moisture and humidity, body oils and sweat or cosmetics and perfumes. But dont worry, tarnish can be removed safely and easily with a few simple home goods. If you haven't done this before you're going to be amazed.
Step One:
Get a bowl and line it with aluminium foil, shiny side facing up.
Step Two:
Put in two tablespoons of baking soda, also known as bread soda or bicarbonate of soda. Lay the silver jewelry in the bowl.
Step Three:
Boil some water and pour the boiling water into the bowl over the baking soda and jewelry.
You will see a reaction with the boiling water, the baking soda and the jewelry. You can move the jewelry around in the boiling water with a spoon to increase the reaction.
Leave the jewelry in the water for about 30 seconds and then remove it. Voila! Science and Nature to the rescue! A non toxic and easy way to remove tarnish. Once you have done this once you will be searching for other pieces of silver to do it all over again.
